Work

So yesterday there was an "emergency" meeting called at the last minute. The leaders called this meeting to say that our company had lost the re-bid for a new contract to another company. So what does this mean? Worst case scenario, I'll be out of a job in 6 months. Best case?....get hired on with the new company.
I don't know how to feel...on one hand it does suck, given that the job market isn't that great. But on the other hand, I don't mind. It's a chance for me to seriously take a look at my "professional" life and figure out what I want to do. Do I want to stay in the IT industry? Do I want to go into management? Maybe my own business?
For years I've been talking about wanting another job/career. I've talked about wanting to get out of this area and move someplace else. Perhaps this is that opportunity...sort of like a baby eagle getting shoved out of the nest in order to learn to fly. Maybe this is me getting shoved out of the nest.

A PENCIL MAKER TOLD THE PENCIL 5 IMPORTANT LESSONS :
1.) EVERYTHING YOU DO WILL ALWAYS LEAVE A MARK.
2.) YOU CAN ALWAYS CORRECT THE MISTAKES YOU MAKE.
3.) WHAT IS IMPORTANT IS WHAT IS INSIDE OF YOU.
4.) IN LIFE , YOU WILL UNDERGO PAINFUL SHARPENING, WHICH WILL MAKE YOU A BETTER PERSON.
5.) TO BE THE BEST PENCIL, YOU MUST ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE HELD AND GUIDED BY THE HAND THAT HOLDS YOU.

Thanksgiving

Yesterday marked an epic moment in DKC history. We finally held our worship services inside our new building. The last few weeks of the project was stressful, with many different obstacles making things frustrating. But when you look back, you can really tell it was all in God's planning, timing and sovereignty.
And how special was it to celebrate our new building on Thanksgiving Sunday? In general we have so much to be thankful for. But we are especially thankful for God's faithfulness in providing the mission center. And just like P. Dave shared yesterday...the completion of the building is not the end of all things, but the start of great things to come. We just need to align our hearts and vision with that of God's and so much can be accomplished through the mission center. PTL!

I hope everyone was blessed through the service yesterday. It truly is a testament of God's love for us and DKC. It's been a long and painful journey, one requiring much sacrifice. But He never forgot about us and was with us every step of the way.

Happy Thanksgiving friends!!

Guitars

why are there so many different choices when it comes to finding a guitar? i probably don't need another guitar, but it'd be kinda nice to expand my instrument collection. So far I've got a Taylor 815 jumbo (my baby), a Yamaha APX-500 and an Ibanez GSR200 bass guitar. My first "nice" guitar (Simon-Patrick) is somewhere in Arizona, hopefully doing mighty things for the Lord. haha!
but these days i've been looking to buying an electric guitar. but do i want a solid body?... semi-hollow?... hollow-body? there are different brands to choose from such as Fender, Gibson, or Gretsch, and even within those brands, there are different models, features, colors, styles....basically a buffet of choices. and not to mention the exhaustive list of amplifiers, pedals and accessories that every guitarist needs....of course.
i think it would be cool to add a different element to worship than just an acoustic guitar. and i think it would be fun to jam with fellow musicians and just expand my skill set (what little i do have). just need to find me the right guitar at the right price....or just win the lotto. =)
